Revive with an Afternoon Boost

{ Snacks } Wed, 28 October, 2009

Like wilting flowers after a long day, moms everywhere are running out of steam come mid-afternoon, and the stretch until bedtime still seems eternal. The key is small, high-energy snacks with the power to revive.

Our favorite take-anywhere munchies will get you through the day.

  1. Green apple slices with peanut, almond or soy butter. In a hurry, purchase store-bought, pre-cut apple slices.
  2. String cheese and a popcorn cake. This snack is great for kids lunches too!
  3. Luna Bar—these bars are nutritious and yummy.
  4. Tea latte with a handful of almonds.

Ingredients

  • 1/3-Cup Low Fat Milk
  • 2 Earl Grey Tea Bags (or your favorite tea)
  • 2 Tablespoons of Honey

Boil water, add tea bag(s), and steep for a few minutes to desired strength.  Meanwhile, heat/steam milk.  Add warm milk and honey to tea, and mix well for a warm, satisfying treat.

In a hurry?
Tea latte mixes are a yummy alternative to our recipe. Try mixing with soy milk for a nutty flavor.
